CCC MISSIONS TEAM

FOCUS AND GOALS

Revised January 2005

Serving within the context of the congregation at Central Christian Church, the Missions Team will strive to meet at least two main goals:

 1.  Be a SENDING CHURCH

      How?

•Raise up people from within the congregation who wish to serve in fulltime mission        ministry, either locally or abroad.

•Offer CCC members opportunities to participate in short-term mission work, both       locally and abroad.

•Encourage (spiritually) and support ( prayerfully and financially) those in the      congregation who wish to participate in mission work.

•Provide academic scholarships to those who enroll in undergraduate degree     programs pursuing a degree in vocational missions ministry.

 2.         Be a SUPPORTING CHURCH

             How?

•Financial Support à Provide generous financial support through the missions budget    to missionaries.

•Prayer and Relational Support à A major responsibility of Missions Team members    is to offer regular prayer support and relational support through friendships cultivated       over time with missionaries.

•On the Field à Initiate short-term mission trips that would allow CCC members to work with some of our missionaries in their place of ministry.  Such trips would be a      way to support the missionary is a direct way and will also provide mission ministry            experience for those who visit the mission field.

What Does a CCC Missions Team Member Do?

Revised January, 2005

»Team members are asked to develop relationships with missionaries.

Team members who invest in establishing a friendship with a missionary can become a wonderful encouragement to those serving in mission ministry and can participate in the work of the missionary themselves through that relationship.

»Team members become “experts” on their missionaries.

By contact with the missionary (letters, email, newsletter, phone, fax, etc.), the team member becomes THE primary contact for that missionary and Central Christian Church.  Be ongoing contact, the team member is made aware of special needs the missionary may have (financial, prayer, family, travel, etc.) and can then serve as a liaison between the missionary and CCC, informing CCC on how they can help and support the missionaries in their work.  (Team members should build a file on their missionaries that includes newsletters, emails, etc.)

»Team members share missionary ministry news with the congregation.

One of the main responsibilities of team members is to update or inform the congregation concerning relevant news pertaining to missionaries.  At least once a year (if appropriate and possible), team members are asked to highlight their missionary in some way during a Sunday morning service or some other king of gathering.  Showing photographs via video, playing a video tape or DVD depicting the missionary, distribution of a pertinent newsletter, and a personal visit by the missionary are some of the ways to “feature” your missionary.

»Team members are asked to attend about 5 to 7 Missions Team meetings a year.

By meeting, team members can update the team on their respective missionary (or missionaries) and inform the team of any special needs or concerns.  Meetings also provide brainstorming time for the team.  Everyone’s involvement and participation is needed.
